LPN is also known as Licensed Practical Nurse. LPNs are senior than certified nurse assistant and they work under the supervision of registered nurses. These nurses have to check and keep record of patient’s vital signs like sugar level, blood pressure, body temperature and heartbeat. They are also responsible for preparing injections for the patient and make sure that the patient takes his medicine on time. These nurses may have to keep the record of patient’s food intake and faeces. These nurses usually work in health care facilities and some of them work as private nurses to take care of patients and elderly citizens at their homes. LPN working in a hospital usually works for five shifts in a week and each shift is eight hours long. They may also have to work on weekends and night shifts. Licensed practical nurses are respectful member of society and can make good earnings in a short period. After working for a few years, a CNA is promoted to a Licensed practical nurse. One can also start her nursing career directly from the post of LPN by getting a two-year associate degree or a one-year diploma. After acquiring the required qualification, candidates for the job of LPN are required to pass an exam to get nursing licence known as NCLEX-PN.
