Delivery driver’s basic duty is to pick the goods from one place and then safely delivers them to another place. Their responsibilities vary from business to business and they sometime have to perform additional duties like working as a distribution officer who supplies finished goods to retail stores and receives a confirmation of delivery. There are no educational requirements for this job except for a CDL (commercial driving license) which is essential for a delivery driver. A delivery driver must be able to perform some administrative tasks, which may include cleaning his vehicle every day before going home. He is also responsible for the maintenance of that vehicle. In addition, they have to keep the record of goods loaded and unloaded in a week. It is his duty to take receiving notes from retailers as well as authorize goods from warehouse. Sometimes, delivery drivers have to act as the company’s representatives and may deal with complaints. Some delivery drivers work within a city, others deliver goods to long distant locations, and therefore their work timing differs too. Usually they get incentives and bonuses for each successful delivery out of station. According to the State law, companies are required to pay insurance premium for delivery drivers since their life is at risk while traveling on the road.
